It's My Son's Birthday Today!

My not to be named son turned 15 years old at 7.15am this morning. As all moms, I can't believe that he's grown up so quickly! I look at him and love pours out of my very being. He's a good kid -kind to others including animals and birds, responsible and so funny!

But what does a mom give her teenage son that's all natural and non-toxic?

 Here's what I did:

* He'll soon need to start shaving, so I gave him a stainless steel manual razor - the electric ones emit harmful radiation

* To go with the razor, I gave him Dr Bronner's just released Spearmint Peppermint Shaving Soap Gel.

* For a surprise when he gets home from school, I'm making him a delicious raw Un-Chocolate Cake on page 116 Favorite Recipes from Teens Who Love Raw Food by Valya and Sergei Boutenko.

 Recipe for Un-Chocolate Cake

Crust:
5 cups ground walnuts,
3 cups raisins,
3 tablespoons raw carob powder
1 teaspoon Frontier's butterscotch flavor,
1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 cup dry, hulled buckwheat (optional).

Mix well. A nice thick layer of organic mango works great for the fruit layer.

Topping:
1/2 cup water
1 cup raw tahini
4 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons raw carob power
1 teaspoon vanilla.

It's important to put the water in first. The liquid makes it easier for the blender to work. Spread the topping evenly over the crust, or squeeze using decorating bag.
Decorate with fruits, berries, and nuts. Chill.  Serves 12

* And how could I deny him this? A FIFA soccer ball!

He's happy and so am I.

xx Eve
